ON DAVID WEISMAN
I met David at the School of Visual Arts in New York City when we were faculty members. Photography requires a discerning eye—a lens that frames experience in a unique way. David Weisman is a master of creating thought-provoking imagery. He immerses himself in places that are often overlooked, transforming the "everyday" into something extraordinary. While most of us might see the mundane as just routine, Weisman elevates these moments into compelling compositions. This skill and ability to awaken our perception are truly enriching. Cartier-Bresson comes to mind, capturing the essence of the present with a deeply personal touch. Whether it's a tree, a sign, or a discarded tire, each subject has its own narrative through the photographer’s gaze. In an age where cell phones render the "usual" commonplace, David Weisman's perspective remains uniquely personal. I eagerly anticipate what he will capture next! — Laurence Gartel, August 2024 Known as the “Father of Digital Art”, Laurence Gartel’s artwork has been included in collections at the Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and more.
